Disc Golf Terms Glossary
Simple explanations of the most common disc golf words and phrases.
Hyzer
A release angle where the outside edge of the disc is lower than the inside edge for a backhand throw.
Anhyzer
A release angle where the outside edge of the disc is higher than the inside edge for a backhand throw.
Fade
The disc’s tendency to finish left for a right-hand backhand throw as it slows down.
Turn
The disc’s tendency to drift right for a right-hand backhand throw during high-speed flight.
Stable
A disc that flies relatively straight when thrown with proper speed.
Overstable
A disc that resists turning and finishes harder at the end of flight.
Understable
A disc that turns more easily and can help newer players get distance.
OB
Out of bounds. Usually adds a penalty stroke.
Mando
Mandatory route. The disc must pass a marked side of an object.
Circle One
The 10-meter putting circle around the basket.
